Welcome to the Science and Religion in Schools Worldwide Project

This is currently a project in potentia and we are hoping that the exciting and leading edge work that we have been doing in the UK will inspire others from around the world to the importance and relevance of this area.

We believe that this interface between 'how science sees the world' and 'how religion sees the world' is a vital part of a child's education in the C21st and we hope that you in your country can be inspired by our materials to develop your own project tackling the needs in your country.

If you would like to discuss more about the way in which the UK project was structured or developed then please contact us.

The Bicentenary of Charles Darwin's birth, 12th February 1809, and the 150th anniversary of the publication of 'On the Origin of Species', 24th November 1859, will ensure that 2009 is a year when the Science and Religion debate will have a high profile. Teachers of both Religious Education and Science should take this opportunity to encourage open minded and informed debate on the important issues involved.

Other groups involved in Science and Religion in Schools
The Faraday Schools Project: This is a pilot site for the Faraday Schools Project (see also the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion). Almost everyone ponders "big questions" at one time or another. But where do you go for answers? Science and religion look like obvious choices except that according to over 50% of teenagers science and religion don't agree ...
Test of Faith: The Faraday Institute in partnership with Contrapositive New Media have produced materials on science and faith that are relevant and accessible for churches, with contributions from leading scientists and theologians. Find out what we are about here, take a look at the film, book and course, and watch this space for further developments.
The Wonder Project: The wonder project is a meeting place for educators and subject experts who want to create authoritative and imaginative educational resources that invite students to ask big questions and encourage them to seek answers.
